Even though I only work “part time,” it sure seems like it’s been full time lately. Just about all I can do even when I’m not at the office is think about, talk about and pretty much breathe our new Family Room at Dell Children’s Medical Center. Just ask my husband – he can probably tell you as much about it as I can!
It’s going to be a beautiful room and provide a really special place of respite for the families who need it.
It will be opening soon, but we’ve been making a big push to find volunteers to staff it. How do we find those volunteers? Any way we can. Jan Gunter and her interns have made sure we have a great online media presence, making our needs known. Have you liked us on Facebook yet or are you following us on Twitter? If not, why not do so now?
Or perhaps you saw Derrick Lesnau and Elizabeth Williams’ interview on Fox 7’s Good Day Austin last week where they did a great interview about our need for volunteers. Elizabeth is a current volunteer at our Family Room at St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas and plans to volunteer at the DCMC Family Room, too!
So that’s what’s been keeping me so busy. Seems like I just go from one volunteer orientation to the next these days and process volunteer applications. But I love getting volunteers in to help out, so this is the kind of “busy” that makes me happy! If you want to know more about volunteering with us, either at our House or either of our Family Rooms, just let me know. I’d love to hear from you!
Wish I lived closer I’d like to volunteer!
Way to keep up with those volunteer applications, Jane. And then of course there’s me today asking for your help as you were trying to get out the door and go home! Busy, busy, busy!
Jan
We’re ALL busy, busy, busy, but that’s the nature of what we do, right? And you know I’m always happy to help. Your last second request wasn’t so bad!
