I really admire the “can do” attitude that people show in all instances of life whether it is in overcoming tragic acts of nature like the recent Hurricane Sandy, setting big goals for fitness or the future, courageously battling illness or moving through an injury like so many children are doing here at the Ronald McDonald House.
Right now there is a group of over 75 volunteers who are “doing something” to create a wonderful, welcoming space for each of our guest families by re-decorating each guest room at the Austin Ronald McDonald House. That means that there are lots of decorating ideas floating around, Pinterest posts being made, and of course lots of shopping being done on our behalf. So far, three of our guest rooms have been completely re-decorated and look lovely – by the end of next week, three more will have their new look. What a great way to mark our 5th anniversary here in the Mueller neighborhood next to Dell Children’s Medical Center!
Special thanks to each and everyone who has signed up to “do something” special for the Austin Ronald McDonald House and the families we serve. Lots of local and national donors have stepped up too – TempurPedic, Ashley Furniture Store, Louis Shanks, Haverty’s, Benjamin Moore Paint, and so many others. Thank you for your time and treasure. Thank you for your donation of furniture, art, mattresses, and paint, and thank you for “Always doing something” to create a “home away from home” to help families stay together at the Ronald McDonald House during their child’s medical crisis.
And, mark your calendars for Sunday, December 16th from 1-4pm when we’ll be hosting a Holiday Open House to show off the newly re-freshed guest rooms and thank the community for your longtime, generous support.
