This summer we had the pleasure of meeting Cindy Holt, and her daughter and family, Cristy and Phillip Tingkang and Hali’a. They stayed here at the Ronald McDonald House while Hali’a had a scheduled heart surgery.
As they were checking out, Cindy, who lives in Las Vegas, told me that her son and daughter-in-law in Honolulu were also, at the very same time, staying at the Oahu Avenue Ronald McDonald House because their twins were born prematurely! I’ve known of a lot of people with Ronald McDonald House connections, but this is the first time I’ve heard of different family members staying at the Ronald McDonald House in different cities at the same time.
The story was made even more amazing because they had worked with the Red Cross to get Phillip home from his military service in Iraq for this surgery, and because their son, Phillip Boy had also been in the hospital in Killeen. Wow. Some things just sound too crazy and complicated to be true. (You can read the whole story on our website).
Here are some of Cindy’s words of gratitude:
I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would have THREE grand children in the hospital at the same time, and both families at the RMH. If it wasn’t for the RMH, it would have been impossible to be near them in such a time of need.
Hali’a recovered quickly and is doing great! Thanks to the great doctors and staff who cared for her at the hospital. And thanks to the RMH and the kind staff that made it easier on all of us. We greatly appreciate your hospitality. Job well done!
So here’s my question to you: Have you donated lately to help families like Cindy’s? All the stories are not this involved, but everyone’s story has one thing in common. A child is critically ill or injured and in the hospital. Will you please consider donating today to help us help children heal?
It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to share stories like Cindy’s with you. Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. Thank you for keeping in touch.
